Residential Street Sweeping Information
MUNICIPAL STREET SWEEPING
The Municipality of Anchorage Street Maintenance Division begins street sweeping in May of each year (weather permitting). The APDES (Alaska Pollution Discharge Elimination System) permit requires all Municipal and State-owned roads within the Municipality of Anchorage to be swept a total of three times per year. Residential areas are only done on the first and third sweep. The beginning point and direction of street sweeping on residential roads is rotated from year to year.
The map sectors will be highlighted in ORANGE when sweeping has started and will show GREEN when the Sector is finished. Please understand there may be some deviation in the sweeping pattern on trash days. This page will be updated throughout the day, every day, allowing residents to track the progress of our residential sweeping.
To allow our crews to work safely and efficiently, please note the following:
- Please limit all on-street parking, and remove trailers and basketball hoops from the street when the sweeping crews are in your area.
- It is illegal to park vehicles in the middle of a cul-de-sac per Municipal Code Title 9.30.030, A13. Vehicles parked in a cul-de-sac during street sweeping operations may result in a citation and/or towing.
If there is a reason that you need to talk with someone about sweeping or maintenance, please contact Street Maintenance Dispatch via this email.
Street Maintenance wants to express our thanks to everyone in advance for following these procedures and helping us do our job.
